Introduction

In his speech at the 2nd International Conference on Green Hydrogen, Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined his goal of making India the world leader in the production, use, and export of green hydrogen.

During his speech, PM Modi urged the international scientific community to collaborate in developing policies for the green hydrogen industry. He stated:

"I beseech the international scientific community to work together to explore other perspectives. Changes in public policy can be suggested by scientists and inventors to support the green hydrogen industry. We want to establish India as a global center for the production, use, and export of green hydrogen."

The Prime Minister emphasized India's dedication to energy transition and sustainability, highlighting that India was the first in the G-20 to meet its targets for green energy in Paris, achieving this milestone nine years ahead of schedule. He pointed out the significant increase in India's capacity for solar energy and non-fossil fuels over the past decade.

The Vision for Green Hydrogen

PM Modi discussed the potential of green hydrogen to decarbonize hard-to-electrify industries such as steel, heavy-duty vehicles, fertilizers, and refineries. He introduced the National Green Hydrogen Mission, an initiative to promote investments, infrastructure, and innovation in this vital field.

He emphasized the urgency of addressing climate change:

"The effects of climate change are already being felt. The fact that climate change affects more than just the future is becoming increasingly apparent. Now is the time to take action."

PM Modi concluded with an inspirational message:

"Friends, humanity has had to overcome a lot in the past. Every time, we overcome obstacles by coming up with creative, cooperative solutions. Let's expedite the development and deployment of green hydrogen."

Prime Minister Modi spoke at the International Conference on Green Hydrogen India 2024, organized by several government bodies, emphasizing the importance of skill development for youth in this sector.
